  1. Prepping bikes for Daytona and Barber back to back weekends in Oct. will have my 61 Daytona Fim bike ready for her 50th anniv. first bike race at the new track… Zundapp 250 Super Saber…
Mecum auction at monterey. Gavin Tripp is searching for good bikes… we plan to send a 1975 MV America 750.. original.
hope to make Miller Ahrma in early Sept. great track…
    best to all motorheads

  2. @bryson: Mr. Tripp doesn’t need to look much further for a “good bike” than that MV. I think I’d trade every motorcycle I’ve ever owned – and there have been dozens of ‘em – for an MV 750 America. They may be out of reach for me forever however at this late stage of my life…

  3. Visiting my sis in Birmingham this week I was able to drop by Barber yesterday. Porsche driving school Thu and Fri, and track time for bikes all weekend.

If you are a bike or Lotus racing fan, which I am both, the museum is amazing. Six stories of historic bikes and then some. The only word I can think of is awe. Sorry I hadn’t been sooner.

BMW and Porsche clubs get track time regularly, bikes even more requently.

  4. I have to really agree with AndyE. Barber is out of this world. Vintage Festival this fall, October 7th thru 9th. http://www.barbermotorsports.com/vintage/

    Ever seen a diesel motorcycle?

  5. Barber Vintage Festival is a definite again this year for me. I have been 5 or 6 years running and would not miss it.

Trying to finish a 73 Honda to take to the BUB Speed Trials this year but that project has fallen behind schedule. I may have it done in time to take to Barber in October but it is not looking good for the Speed Trials or a test run at the Maxton Mile before hand.

  6. I’ll be at the best British bike meet in the east, Brit Jam, August 21st, Haddam Neck, CT. http://www.ctbritiron.org for a flyer and info.

  7. The AMA Vintage Days event is interesting at least for the midwesterners from the surrounding states to Ohio where it is held. Its neat to bring a vintage bike of whatever model, make or condition and either enter it in the multiple events, dirt, road track, show competition, etc. or just roll it off your truck bed and ride it around the Mid-Ohio race track grounds looking at the sights. Pretty large swap meet with some fair to optimistic prices for rolling stock or a NOS footpeg or turn signal for your collector bike. I dig the oldballs that only sell one thing like whitworth bolts and nuts or piles of footpegs, pipes, reflectors or some such stuff. But hey, if you need one. July 22-24. Kawasaki is this season’s Marque of the Year.

  8. Gotta be Laguna Seca for MOTO GP. Even for vintage guys it is a thrill to watch and see real moto crowds. And I do mean crowds.

Bummed there is no Catalina this year. Waiting for 2012! Fingers crossed.

  9. Our Sixth annual Bikes On The Bay Vintage Motorcycle Show and Swap meet, June 26, Sunday in Capitola, CA.

A neat low key event that also has a bikes for sale corral. This year we have a new class “Unrestored/Project Bikes” to encourage owners fire up those old keepers.

    Please join us.
    Cheers
    Tim

  10. For anyone who hasn’t been to Barber, put that at the very top of the list.

I know of no one who has been there that thinks that one visit is sufficient.

So many roads, so little time.

  11. It is a long list. We’ve already had several runs this year, with a lot more to go. Pictures from these upcoming rides will be on my site. Most are in NorCal:

    Indian Run
    Dixon Swap Meet
    Kiehl’s Ride
Alturas Tour: pre 1910 cars, pre1916 bikes
    Velocette Rally
    the Rigid Ride
Minden, pre1916 with one or two Cyclones this year
    the Girder Fork Ride
    All British Ride
Yerba Buena AMCA tour in Santa Rosa
and of course the 49 Mile Ride through San Francisco

  12. We are MotoGP faithful. Either both of us, or sometimes just I have been to all the 500 cc Grand Prix/MotoGP’s since 1988.

Each year we buy our tickets at the event for the following year, it’s our one for sure thing every year. Our habits are to camp in Archery and get Pit Row Suite Tickets in case we need air conditioning and a place to relax. We only leave the track to grab dinner at one of the fantastic restaurants on the Monterey Penninsula.

We have tried to get my brother and cousin to attend at least once… but, they always have some kind of excuse… laundry, mow the lawn etc… someday.

We are mostly adventure bike riders at this point, but all bikes are good to us.

  13. the link was bad on my earlier post. here it is: http://www.occhiolungo.wordpress.com
