Blue-Chip Gang: Unrestored Vincent Lot

These three Vincents are being offered as a single lot and are all said to be unrestored with nearly all their original paint. It is said that these bikes have been off the radar of even the Vincent Owner’s Club since nearly new, and that all three have beed ridden by the current seller and are in running shape. Find them here on eBay in New Hampshire. Special thanks to TY reader William C. for this submission!

Vincent Classic Motorcycle Collection For Sale

The 1950 Comet is shown below, with red accents and claimed all original numbers. All the bikes wear British registrations plates, and this one shows EHV 453.

Vincent Classic Motorcycle Collection For Sale Rear

The 1954 Touring Rapide below is the latest of the bunch, and has a very clean engine. This one has survived amazingly well for a non-restored bike.

Vincent Classic Motorcycle Collection For Sale Stand

This 1953 Black Shadow features a vertical speedo and is said to have had a repainted fuel tank in 1953.

Vincent Classic Motorcycle Collection For Sale Early

The seller doesn’t give many details on the bikes, but the photos are good with the numbers are in plain view. In the question/answer section he mentions that the reserve is $210k. Given that they don’t appear to be part of the same collection, why wouldn’t these be offered separately?

  1. Wow…………………in the Vincent world, this is a seismic event………….

  2. Wow! What beautiful bikes! These are simply a dream, to bad I can’t afford them. Well Thanks for the post, beautiful bikes!
Cheers to the lucky person who gets them!

  3. Unbelievable! Where have these been and why haven’t they been ridden all these years?

  4. The twins are certainly the ones to have…but that Comet looks great. Maybe it is just those red accents. Who am I kidding, I’d give my eyed teeth for any Vincent.

  5. Dirt Track Doug

    a seismic event… INDEED

    W.O.W.

THESE,.. people ARE ‘THE’ epitome of KOOL.

    -and this comment,
    – from a decades long Harley rider…

I once saw a red Rapide parked at Sturgis in 1982
    -in a sea of Harleys.

You could’ve eaten off the drainplug.
it was the most interesting, kool’ist ride there.

PS: Max Lambkey’s streamliner ain’t to shabby neither ;-) !

  6. Reserve at $250k is a bit steep. The Comet is nice, the Shadow is of course to die for, and the Rapide is just so cool.

  7. Oh… my… God.

  8. Antionne Predock, we know you’re out there.

  9. Hmmm – diehard MC enthusiast with lots of $ – seems to me that Jay Leno is the obvious buyer.

  10. Wonder if they’d accept a GT40 in trade…..

  11. The veritable motherload. I know the Shadow is the big draw; but the TOURING Rapide with the deep fenders and extra hardware really gets me almost as much.

I’m not sure what the TY description of ‘vertical’ speedo means. It looks like the appropriate ‘Shadow Clock’ to me.

I’d love to know more about the backstory of this ‘collection’ of bikes. Wow.

  12. I know why they weren’t ridden very often… they are an absolute bitch to get started. Somedays they will fire first half kick, other days you can jump on the pedal for ages and they will never fire.
I have only seen one 1949 Vincent on road in recent years and the owner admitted that he has to keep riding it because he is addicted..oh the pain of it all.

  13. I wonder if the previous owners were “unable” to transfer the titles in the middle of the night?..!! Vincents are rare as we are aware, so one munst question why they were not offered on the vincent board, why they cannot be sold individually-becuase they ALL would sell easily. People in the market for a Vincent are not worried about eating or making mortgage payments etc.. Beautiful Machines and deserve their Grandeur- But this deal smells funny so check your shoes !!

  14. i’m familar with Predock and his work, what does he have to do w/ Vincents?

  15. The Comet: 2/3′s the horsepower and half the problems. 8)

  16. I’ll take the Comet any day!

  17. Damn! Where’s that Publisher’s Clearing House check when you need it?!

  18. I think the reserve is $210K (not $250k)
You would think after spending that much, he would cover the $300 to get proper ownership documents from the DMV!

  19. The seller probably has no intention of selling this stuff through eBay. The auction is just there for advertising purposes for maximum exposure. He will most likely sell them off eBay as individual bikes. I should go ride my Rapide. . . .

  20. I went to a british vintage trials meet in ohio a few years ago, well more than a few, but anyway. We were standing in the parking area talking after we got there, and this old guy pulls up on a Black Shadow. As he takes his helmet off I realised this guy was well into his 60′s . My buddy knew him and introduced him, but I forget his name . The Shadow was his main ride. It had wheels and brakes from a 900 kaw. The 900 front end was also adapted for it. In the old guy’s words” they go like stink, but don’t stop worth a damn. He also had a handle rigged on the centerstand to help him get it up on the stand. Yes he kicked it when he left and it fired up in two kicks. They are like an old harley, you have to run them through a few times before you hit the switch, then kick it. This old guy sure impressed me with his way of looking at old iron, that I will remember. jmo.
